Cebu Pacific (CEB), the country’s leading domestic airline and carrier to the ASEAN region, will formally launch its Davao hub operations on May 8 to serve the island of Mindanao.
The new hub, Cebu Pacific’s third after Manila and Cebu, services 4 domestic and 2 international destinations, including direct services to Hong Kong and Singapore. Bangkok and Macau are also accessible through connecting flights via Cebu.
Cebu Pacific is the only airline operating both Davao-Iloilo and Davao-Hong Kong routes and is the only Filipino carrier offering the Davao-Singapore service.
Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice president for marketing and product, said, “We are making Davao our third hub in order to make the city and the rest of Mindanao more accessible for tourism and trade. We understand the need to offer a more convenient and affordable service out of Davao and hope that the public will take advantage of these new services.”
Cebu Pacific, which operates the youngest fleet in the country, flew 5.5 million passengers in 2007 and expects to exceed seven million passengers this year.
Undersecretary Eduardo Jarque from the Department of Tourism said, “We are very excited about these new flights. This is a significant milestone because it opens up more of our islands to more travelers. This is also a good indicator that our tourism industry is healthy and doing well.”
The lowest one-way year round ‘Go’ fare for the Davao-Iloilo service starts at P288, while the fare for Davao-Hong Kong starts at P1,499. Moreover, one-way year round ‘Go’ fare for Davao-Singapore starts at P1,999. Fare is exclusive of taxes and applicable surcharges.
Now in its 13th year, Cebu Pacific operates flights to 21 domestic destinations and flies to 14 and soon to be 16 international destinations with the addition of Kaohsiung and Kota Kinabalu in the coming months.
